Mompiche, Ecuador
Surf, Beaches & Tropical Escape on the Pacific Coast

A Hidden Gem on Ecuador’s Coast

Whispered among travelers and surfers, Mompiche is a small fishing village at the south end of the fish-hook-shaped Ensenada de Mompiche, about two hours south of Esmeraldas. Known for its long left-hand point break and a 7 km stretch of pristine gray sand, this village is a favorite for those seeking uncrowded beaches, authentic local culture, and peaceful coastal escapes.

Despite the construction of a road nearly twenty years ago, Mompiche remains quiet and serene, with minimal traffic and a close-knit community where everyone knows each other. Its charm lies in simplicity: walk barefoot along the shore, breathe the tropical air, and unwind surrounded by nature.

Surf, Sand and Seaside Freedom

Mompiche is more than a beach — it’s a coastal playground for adventure and relaxation alike. From riding waves to exploring mangroves, this village offers something for everyone seeking sea, and tropical serenity.
